PHX Cleantech Startup Supersede Lands $10M to Triple Production
By: Kyle Macdonald , COO of Silicon Oasis Founded in 2022 by Sean Petterson , Jordan Darling , and Shane Kenyon — a team with backgrounds at Tesla, Nikola, and multiple successful startups — Supersede is a Phoenix-based cleantech company tackling one of construction’s least innovative materials: marine-grade plywood. Their solution?A water-resistant, rot-proof structural panel made from recycled plastic. The raise includes $5M in convertible debt and $5M in equipment financing, with backing from Closed Loop Partners,a national building products distributor, and multiple angels. Supersede plans to use the funds to triple production by opening a new Midwest facility, adding over 50 jobs, while also doubling its Phoenix HQ team. Founded in 2022 by a team with experience at Tesla, Nikola, and other successful startups, Supersede is building something special:a water-resistant, rot-proof, and fully recyclable panel that holds up where plywood fails. As supply chains shift and sustainability becomes urgent, Supersede is well-positioned to lead the $30B U.S. wood panel market into the future. 📬 We cover the full story — and what it means for Arizona cleantech — in this month’s Silicon Oasis Magazine.
