Silicon Oasis at CES: Why Robots Stole the Show (Not AI)

I just got back from CES, and one thing was clear: AI is everywhere—but robotics is what people actually stopped to see. AI branding was stamped on nearly every product category, especially at the big booths. In some cases it was meaningful. In others, it felt more like a marketing layer than a real feature. Meanwhile, once-flashy concepts like rollable and transparent TVs seemed to fade into the background as companies refocused on products that could realistically ship at scale. What truly dominated the floor was robotics. Humanoid robots, robotic arms, and next-gen consumer robots consistently drew the biggest crowds. Cameras came out. Conversations started. Energy followed. Unlike abstract AI features, robots are tangible—you can watch them work, struggle, and improve in real time. That matters. Robotics feels real. It carries visible progress and real implications for work, productivity, and daily life. If CES is a signal of where attention is heading, the message is simple: AI may own the signage, but robotics owns the spotlight. — Jordan Fourcher Enjoyed this preview?
