Phoenix Takes the Stage in the Global Chip Boom
For decades, SEMICON West called San Francisco home.a gathering of the world’s top minds in microelectronics. This October, that legacy expands to the desert. For the first time ever, the Phoenix Convention Center will host SEMICON West, North America’s premier semiconductor exhibition, from October 7–9 . It’s projected to be the event’s biggest showing in twenty years — 860 exhibitors,1,500 booths, and attendance up 33% over last year. But this isn’t just a venue change. It’sa signal that Phoenix has arrived. Over the past decade, the region has quietly become one of the fastest-growing tech hubs in the U.S., fueled by billions in chip manufacturing investment and a new wave of talent. “Phoenix is honored to host SEMICON West for the first time,” said Mayor Kate Gallego.“This global gathering showcases the incredible momentum building in our city.” The event is expected to generate nearly $10 million in direct spending and 16,000 room nights, while putting Arizona’s innovation ecosystem on full display. From clean-room floors to downtown streets, the message is clear: the desert is no longer on the sidelines of innovation — it’s leading the charge
