Justworks Opens First Arizona Office in Old Town Scottsdale, Plans to Triple Local Team

New York-based HR technology company Justworks has officially opened its first Arizona office, establishing a new 25,000-square-foot presence in Old Town Scottsdale with plans for significant local hiring.

The company signed a lease at Portales Corporate Center, 4800 N. Scottsdale Road, and opened the office Sept. 16 with approximately 50 employees. Justworks expects to grow the Scottsdale team to roughly 150 employees over the next two years.

The office will primarily house customer-facing roles in sales, sales development and customer success.

Justworks operates as a Professional Employer Organization, providing payroll, benefits, compliance and human resources services to small and medium-sized businesses. The company is headquartered in New York and also has offices in Tampa, London, Mexico City and Toronto.

Chief Revenue Officer John Belle told the Phoenix Business Journal that the Phoenix market’s talent pool, proximity to the West Coast and opportunities to reach new customers and partners helped drive the company’s decision to expand into Arizona. Scottsdale’s accessibility and concentration of small businesses also factored into the location choice.

For Arizona’s technology ecosystem, the expansion is another meaningful example of an established technology company choosing Greater Phoenix for a significant operating hub rather than a token satellite office.

Arizona’s emergence as a Silicon Oasis depends on both homegrown startups and the continued attraction of technology companies that bring jobs, talent and new business relationships into the state. If Justworks reaches its hiring target, its Scottsdale operation will triple in size within two years.
