Gradiant Expands U.S. Footprint with New Phoenix Office as AI Infrastructure Demand Grows

Gradiant, a global water technology company supporting semiconductor manufacturing, data centers, energy and other advanced industries, is expanding its U.S. presence with a new office in Phoenix.

The Boston-based company announced the Phoenix location as part of a broader U.S. expansion that also includes new offices in Syracuse and Philadelphia, a new Global Innovation Center in Houston and the appointment of Dr. Nish Vora as Managing Director, Americas. Gradiant says its U.S. headcount has grown 55% year-to-date.

For Arizona, the Phoenix expansion comes at an important time.

The state has become one of the country's leading destinations for semiconductor manufacturing and data center development—industries that require significant and highly specialized water infrastructure. As investment in AI and advanced manufacturing continues, the availability, treatment and reuse of water will increasingly influence where new infrastructure can be built.

Gradiant operates directly within that challenge.

Founded at MIT, the company designs, builds and operates industrial water and wastewater systems. Its technologies are used across semiconductor fabs, data centers, energy projects and other water-intensive industries. Gradiant says it has built more than 3,000 treatment plants across 92 countries.

The company also announced new long-term operations and maintenance contracts in the U.S., including an agreement to operate the ultrapure water system for a major semiconductor manufacturer. Gradiant did not identify the chip company.

“AI infrastructure doesn’t get built without solving for water first, whether that’s a fab, a data center, or a power plant,” Gradiant CEO Prakash Govindan said in announcing the expansion.

The company has ambitious plans for its U.S. business. Vora said Gradiant is targeting a $1 billion U.S. order book next year.

The decision to establish a Phoenix office adds another infrastructure-focused technology company to Arizona's growing advanced-industry ecosystem.

As Arizona continues attracting semiconductor, AI, data center and advanced manufacturing investment, the companies enabling that growth—from power and construction to water technology—will become an increasingly important part of the state's technology economy.

For a state where both technological growth and water stewardship are long-term priorities, that intersection is particularly significant.
