🐝 ASU Students Use AI to Decode Bee Behavior
A team of innovative ASU students — Nicholas Mitich , Nicholas Abate , and Aiden Felix — has developed an AI-powered system that transforms how researchers study bee hives. Instead of manually analyzing hours of footage, scientists can now upload a video and instantly receive a fully annotated version with each bee labeled, tracked, and highlighted. In partnership with the ASU Bee Lab and sponsored by Cryo X Co-founder Jordan Fourcher , the team even built digital twin bees — hyper-realistic 3D models that help train the AI on rare or complex movements, dramatically improving accuracy. Designed with a simple drag-and-drop interface, the tool makes advanced analysis accessible to everyday researchers. This project showcases Arizona’s growing strength in applied AI and environmental innovation — and the kind of talent shaping the future of the Valley. 🌵 Want more stories like this?
