AZ Secures $5M to Strengthen Its Advanced Manufacturing Workforce
Arizona is taking another step toward cementing its role as a national tech and manufacturing hub. The Arizona Department of Economic Security has secured $5 million in federal funding to expand workforce development and job training across the state, with a focus on advanced manufacturing and high-demand technical roles.
The funding , awarded through the U.S. Department of Labor’s Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund, will support partnerships with community colleges, training institutes, workforce boards, and major employers. Over the next several years, the initiative aims to train at least 1,000 Arizonans for skilled roles tied to the state’s growing semiconductor, aerospace, and clean-tech industries.
Employers such as TSMC, Boeing, and Lucid are expected to play a role in aligning training with real-world workforce needs. This investment reinforces Arizona’s strategy of pairing capital investment with talent development—ensuring that innovation translates into long-term, local opportunity.
