AZ Nerd Network: A Glimpse at the Future of Education
At a recent AZ Nerd Network gathering, Arizona’s tech community got a glimpse into how Silicon Valley institutions are thinking about the state’s future. Leaders from University of Silicon Valley joined the conversation to explore the rise of Arizona’s emerging “Silicon Oasis” and the role education plays in shaping the next innovation hub. University President Dr. Mark Naufel and Dr. Robert Vera , Chief Experience & Partnership Officer, shared how universities can serve as bridges between talent, startups, and industry. Their message was clear: the future of regional tech ecosystems depends on intentional collaboration between founders, educators, and investors. Arizona, they noted, is entering a moment where infrastructure, population growth, and entrepreneurial energy are aligning. Special thanks to Don Fotsch , Dr. Sami Mian , Ana Tomboulian , and Leah Braddell for hosting AZ Nerd Network and creating a space where conversations like this can shape the Valley’s future. For attendees, the takeaway was simple: Arizona isn’t chasing Silicon Valley — it’s building its own identity, and momentum is accelerating.
