ASU and TSMC Launch Accelerated Workforce Program to Power Arizona’s Semiconductor Growth

Arizona’s semiconductor ecosystem continues to gain momentum as Arizona State University and TSMC Arizona launch a new workforce training initiative designed to fast-track talent into one of the state’s fastest-growing industries.

The ASU Foundations for Equipment Technician Program was created to prepare participants for critical semiconductor manufacturing roles in a matter of weeks or months rather than years. Offered at no cost, the program provides a direct pathway into equipment technician positions, which are essential for maintaining and operating the advanced machinery used in semiconductor fabrication facilities.

As TSMC Arizona expands its manufacturing footprint, demand for skilled workers continues to rise. The company expects to hire thousands of technicians to support its growing operations, including more than 100 equipment technicians by the end of this year.

The program offers multiple flexible schedules, including full-time, part-time, and weekend options, making it accessible to career changers, recent graduates, and individuals seeking new opportunities in advanced manufacturing. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive industry-recognized credentials and a guaranteed interview with TSMC Arizona.

Beyond supporting TSMC’s workforce needs, the initiative strengthens Arizona’s broader semiconductor ecosystem by creating a scalable pipeline of local talent. As major investments continue flowing into the state, programs like this ensure Arizona remains competitive by developing the workforce needed to support the next generation of semiconductor innovation and manufacturing.
