Arizona Startup Cryo X Co Brings Advanced Cooling Technology to Amazon
Arizona-based startup Cryo X Co has reached an important commercialization milestone with the launch of CryoPaint on Amazon, making passive daytime radiative cooling (PDRC) technology more accessible to consumers than ever before.
While the launch of a single product listing may appear modest, it represents a meaningful step for a technology that has historically remained confined to research institutions, laboratories, and specialized industrial applications. By bringing CryoPaint to one of the world's largest online marketplaces, Cryo X is working to bridge the gap between cutting-edge scientific innovation and everyday adoption.
Passive daytime radiative cooling is an emerging technology designed to passively reduce surface temperatures by reflecting sunlight while emitting heat into the atmosphere. Under the right conditions, treated surfaces can remain significantly cooler than surrounding air temperatures, even when exposed to direct sunlight, creating potential applications across construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, and consumer products.
Since its founding, Cryo X has focused on making this technology easier to understand, purchase, and deploy. Rather than limiting distribution to enterprise customers or research partnerships, the company has emphasized accessibility through direct-to-consumer sales, allowing businesses, developers, researchers, and enthusiasts to experiment with the technology.
The Amazon launch builds upon that strategy. Beginning with a four-ounce CryoPaint sample, the company is expanding its distribution beyond its Shopify storefront and into a platform used by millions of customers worldwide. According to Cryo X, the product generated its first customer orders within its first day on Amazon without paid advertising, suggesting early interest in the technology.
For many deep-tech startups, technical breakthroughs alone are not enough to achieve widespread adoption. Commercial success often depends on simplifying complex technologies and making them approachable for broader markets. Cryo X's strategy reflects a growing trend among technology startups: pairing scientific innovation with customer-focused product design and accessible distribution.
As Arizona continues to strengthen its reputation in advanced manufacturing, climate technology, and materials science, companies like Cryo X demonstrate how commercialization can play an equally important role as research. Turning breakthrough technologies into products people can readily purchase and use is often what transforms innovation into lasting economic impact.
With its Amazon debut, Cryo X has taken another step toward bringing advanced cooling technology out of the laboratory and into the hands of customers—an important milestone for both the company and Arizona's growing deep-tech ecosystem.
