ARIZONA INNOVATION CHALLENGE TARGETS SAAS STARTUPS WITH $100K NON-DILUTIVE AWARDS

Arizona software founders will have a new opportunity to secure non-dilutive capital this fall as the Arizona Commerce Authority opens a SaaS-focused edition of the Arizona Innovation Challenge.

Applications for the Fall 2026 competition are scheduled to open September 14 and close September 28. Selected companies will receive $100,000 in non-dilutive funding along with three months of customized support.

The Arizona Commerce Authority lists organizations including PHX FWD, PHX Angels, PHX Ventures, AZ Venture Capital Inc., CopperSky Capital, Plug and Play, The Camelback and Monsoon VC among the participating judges and partners.

For founders, the non-dilutive structure is particularly meaningful. Early-stage companies often need capital to reach product, customer or revenue milestones before institutional venture financing makes sense. Funding that does not require giving up equity can provide additional runway while allowing founders to preserve ownership.

For Arizona, the program also serves another purpose: discovery.

Competitions like the Arizona Innovation Challenge create a statewide funnel for identifying companies that may otherwise remain outside the traditional venture network. That is valuable as Arizona works to become the Silicon Oasis because strong ecosystems require connective infrastructure between founders, investors, mentors, customers and community organizations.

The most interesting part of the competition will ultimately be the companies that emerge from it.

Silicon Oasis will be watching the applicant and finalist pool closely. The opportunity is not simply to celebrate the eventual winners, but to identify promising Arizona SaaS companies earlier and connect them into the broader statewide technology ecosystem.
