Arizona–Taiwan Partnership Signals Next Phase of Global Growth for Silicon Oasis

Arizona is continuing to position itself as a global gateway for innovation.

A new agreement between the Arizona Commerce Authority and Sustainable Impact Capital (SIC) is set to expand market access between Arizona and Taiwan—bringing more international founders, capital, and technology into the state’s rapidly growing ecosystem.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed during Arizona Tech Week, aims to establish Arizona as a U.S. entry point for Taiwanese startups, particularly in high-growth sectors like semiconductors, artificial intelligence, aerospace, and biotechnology.

The agreement coincided with a visiting delegation of more than 30 Taiwanese investors, executives, and academic leaders, led by Johnny Tsai. The group toured key innovation hubs across Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, and Flagstaff—meeting with local leaders to better understand Arizona’s economic infrastructure and growth trajectory.

“This partnership accelerates innovation, strengthens our workforce, and opens new doors for high-tech growth,” said Sandra Watson, who signed the agreement alongside Amos Huang.

Arizona’s relationship with Taiwan has become increasingly strategic. In 2025, Taiwan rose to become the state’s second-largest trading partner, with more than $21.2 billion in total trade—surpassing both Canada and China.

That momentum is being driven in large part by the semiconductor sector. Since 2020, Arizona has attracted more than $214 billion in semiconductor investments, along with over 70 major industry expansions—cementing its position as one of the fastest-growing chip manufacturing hubs in the world.

Leaders from Taiwan echoed the significance of the collaboration. Konrad Young noted Arizona’s “robust ecosystem” and emphasized the importance of building long-term institutional pathways for international expansion.

For Taiwanese founders, the partnership offers more than capital—it provides structured access to U.S. markets, local networks, and government-backed support systems.

For Arizona, it reinforces a broader shift: from a fast-growing regional tech market to a globally connected innovation hub.

As Silicon Oasis continues to take shape, partnerships like this signal a clear direction—Arizona isn’t just building locally. It’s scaling globally.
